BRIEF 02 ≈ D&AD MAKE YOUR MARK
—Initial Layouts & Sizes

Due to the traditional and analogue nature of this project, the size it took, must adhere to traditional consideration. Initially it started as A format, but quickly changed to B format, allowing for more space to work with. B format is the size of the majority of Pengin paperbacks. I experimented with different margin widths and heights, but ended with 18mm, T,L&R, and 25mm B. Again adhering to traditional standardisations.

Another important decision at this stage is the grid structure. Using a 9 by 9 grid as always, but I wanted a slightly reduced inner margins, for sub-headings. So The horizontal grid was set to margins, but the vertical grid was set to page, to allow for this.
